Betty Steele

Mrs. Betty Lou Steele, 73, of Monett, Missouri, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Monett Health Care Center. She was born January 10, 1936, in Monett, Missouri, the daughter of the late Earl L. and Pauline (Mayfield) Miller. She was united in marriage to George Steele on January 29, 1954, in Monett, Missouri, and he survives.

Betty was retired from the Jumping-Jacks Shoe Factory. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monett. She was also a member of D.A.R., Eastern Star, and Monett Historical Society.

Along with her husband, Betty is survived by her step-mother: Lorene Miller; one son: George L. Steele, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one brother: Eddie Joe Miller, of Republic, Missouri; three sisters: Mary Alice Anthony, of Sanford, Florida; Erlena Seward, of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Rita Miller, of Monett, Missouri; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Lucretia Conway.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Ray Evans officiating. Burial will be in Monett IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, June 5, 2009 from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. John's Hospice in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the care of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett, Missouri.
