Ten Injured In Bi-County Wrecks

Ten people were injured in several bi-county traffic wrecks that occurred since Saturday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued the following reports:

A Bentonville, Ark., man was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 7:40 p.m. yesterday two miles north of Seligman on Highway 112 in Barry County.

Trevor Taylor, 18, the driver, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital in Bentonville, Ark.

The wreck occurred when the southbound motorcycle driven by Taylor went off the right side of the road.

Investigating the crash was Trooper Gregory Curnes.

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle wreck two miles west of Halltown on Interstate 44 in Lawrence County at 3:30 p.m. yesterday.

Jean McHugh, 52, and Samantha McHugh, 10, both from St. Louis, sustained moderate injuries and were taken to St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield. They were passengers in a vehicle driven by Joseph Mercurio, 57, of St. Louis.

William Bell, 36, of Ava, and Terri Nicholson, 33, of Ash Grove, were the other two drivers.

The crash occurred when the eastbound Ford driven by Nicholson struck the back end of the eastbound Ford driven by Mercurio, pushing the Mercurio vehicle into the back end of the eastbound Peterbilt driven by Bell.

Investigating the wreck was Trooper Larry Ray.

A Springfield woman was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 2:39 p.m. Sunday a mile west of Mt. Vernon on Interstate 44 in Lawrence County.

Amanda Bixler, 21, the driver, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.

The wreck occurred when the westbound Chevrolet van driven by Bixler attempted to pass another vehicle. The trailer being pulled by Bixler began to sway, and the van went off the median and rolled several times.

Investigating the crash was Trooper Ray.

A Washburn man was injured in a two-vehicle wreck at 2:35 p.m. Saturday three miles north of Washburn on Barry County Farm Road 1060.

Lee Richmond, 51, one of the drivers, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield.

Danna Rose, 19, of Washburn, was the other driver.

The crash occurred when the motorcycle driven by Richmond and the Chevrolet pickup driven by Danna rose, 19, of Washburn, side-swiped on the centerline.

Investigating the wreck was Trooper Adam Ward.

Three people were hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 2:54 p.m. Saturday two miles west of Mt. Vernon on Interstate 44 in Lawrence County.

Linda Morgan, 61, of Tahlequah, Okla., one of the passengers, sustained moderate injuries. Two other passengers, Kelsey Deutschmann, 8, and Shea Deutschmann, 4, both of Troy, sustained minor injuries. All were taken to St. John's Medical Center in Joplin.

Christy Deutschmann, 36, of Troy, was the driver.

The crash occurred when the westbound Chevrolet went off the road and into a ditch.

Investigating the wreck was Trooper Ray.

Two people from Golden were injured in a one-vehicle wreck at 2:15 a.m. Saturday two miles east of Golden on Highway 86 in Barry County.

Bree Squires, 35, sustained serious injuries, and Chance Gahagan, 24, sustained minor injuries. Both were taken to St. John's Hospital in Berryville, Ark.

Heather Koory, 22, of Shell Knob, was the driver. Squires and Gahagan were passengers in the Koory vehicle.

The crash occurred when the eastbound Chevrolet driven by Koory went off the road and struck a tree.

Investigating the wreck was Trooper Tim Barrett.
