A day for honoring heroes

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Laying flowers at the grave of Tom Wolfe, Monett veteran missing in action in the Vietnam War, was part of the Memorial Day ceremony conducted by Tom Wolfe Memorial Post 4207, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and its Ladies Auxiliary.
Rain didn't keep members of Tom Wolfe Memorial Post #4207 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary from holding their annual memorial service at the IOOF Cemetery in Monett on Memorial Day.

The ceremony, which has been held annually since 1969-1970, honors the memory of veterans who have served their country. A memorial wreath was placed on the grave of Thomas Hubert Wolfe.

Post members who participated in the ceremony included: Post Commander Terry Clay; Senior Vice Commander Debi George; Junior Vice Commander David Thurman; Chaplain Jason George; Officer of the Day Bill Cooper; and Ladies Auxiliary President Kim Clay.
