Shooting an 80 on the second day, Monett's Jacob Fair finished the Class 3A state high school golf tournament yesterday with a tie for 28th place.
Fair, a freshman, shot 81 on the par-71 course on Monday and came back yesterday to go one stroke better to finish with a score of 161.
Coach Derrek Uhl of the Cubs noted Fair was just four strokes away from being All-State.
Cassville's Taylor Vanzandt also competed at the 3A meet held at Freemont Hills Country Club in Nixa. He shot 81 on the first day and 84 on the second day to finish tied for 43rd place with a score of 165.
In Class 2A, Mt. Vernon's Eric Wilmouth tied for 22nd place in the state tourney at Sedalia. He had a 161 score. Mt. Vernon was seventh in the team standings with a score of 695.
Pierce City's Garrett Garman also competed in the 2A meet. He shot a 93 on the first day and 89 on the second day to tie for 90th place with a 182 score.
