Wilma Clara Long, born July 11, 1940, in Ellismore, Missouri to James and Maude Woods, passed away on May 12, 2009, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri.
On February 21, 1964, she married Gary Paul Long who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Billy Long and her father, James Woods.
She is survived by a daughter, Paula Long of Theodosia, Missouri; her mother, Maude Woods of Cassville, Missouri; two sisters, Sue Hill (Ron), of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Shirley Sermon (Bob) of West Plains, Missouri; two grandchildren, Katie and Brandon Long; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Wilma graduated in 1959 from High School in Wheaton, Missouri. Her marriage to Gary, who was in the armed forces, led them to many interesting places in the United States. After her husband's retirement, they settled in Monett, Missouri. Her career started at St. Vincent's Hospital, which later became Cox Monett Hospital, and lasted for many years. Wilma was a member of New Site Baptist Church in Monett which she dearly loved. She was active in many clubs and organizations, including Red Hats. She will always be remembered with a warm heart and kind personality who never met a stranger. Wilma will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends. She will be walking the streets of gold and with her heavenly Father and breathing freely.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 16, 2009, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Pastor Aaron Weibel will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
