In the Big 8 Conference golf meet last Thursday at Cassville, the Monett Cubs tied for second place overall.
Monett and Mt. Vernon each had a team score of 350 for second place. Cassville won the Big 8 championship with a score of 335. Seneca was fourth with a score of 378. Carl Junction finished fifth with a score of 388. Aurora was sixth with a score of 400. Lamar came in seventh place with a score of 460.
Jacob Fair, a freshman, was Monett's leading golfer, shooting a 75 for the 18 holes.
Fair finished second among all individuals, good enough for first team all-conference. The top five were first team selections and six through 10 were second team honorees.
Other results for the Cubs were: Nick Madison 85; Jacob Barker 94; Travis Thompson 96; and Kennon Cox 98.
Madison and Barker made second team all-conference by finishing in the top 10. Madison tied for sixth and Barker tied for 10th.
Taylor Vanzandt of Cassville was the meet medalist, taking first place with a score of 73. Eric Wilmouth of Mt Vernon and Evan White of Cassville tied for third with a 77 score. All made first team all-conference.
Others on the second team all-conference were Jackson Tettenhorst of Mt. Vernon, Parker Stumpff of Cassville, Goodman of Mt. Vernon, Luke Balls of Seneca, Justin Mills of Cassville and Shane Newell of Mt. Vernon.
Monett is in action tomorrow in the district meet, also at Cassville.
