Today the new Internet web page for the Monett R-1 school district becomes active. A priority project for Superintendent Dr. John Jungmann, the web page is expected to improve communications with parents, students and teachers.
A presentation on the new format for the school district's Internet site was made at the R-1 Board of Education meeting in April.
"We're really proud of it," Jungmann said.
The district contracted with SchoolFusion to redesign the old web page and implement new features. Jungmann said the majority of the work was done by Lonna Norman, now the Monett website administrator, with assistance from Missy Caldwell and district technology director Melody Paige.
"They did an incredible job of putting together a site that will benefit the district for the future," Jungmann said. "SchoolFusion allows an amazing package that we can grow through."
Although the site can now be accessed at http://monett.schoolfusion.us, it will remain under construction as more of the features are unveiled and fully utilized.
"What you see now will not be at the site's full potential," Jungmann said.
"The site will incorporate premier website technologies, such as interactive school calendars, teacher class pages and news and announcements functions," said Norman. "In addition, the site allows several innovative functions, including interactive multimedia blogs, the ability for students to submit their homework on-line and much more."
According to Stephen Shapiro, the president of SchoolFusion, their product is now making a significant impact in over 3,000 schools throughout the United States. The district can look forward to greater parental involvement, engaged students and increased website usage with this new web solution.
Monett R-1 School District is working to ensure that all parents will be able to access the tools and information available on the new website in the near future. The school and class websites are automatically available in a multitude of different languages allowing students and parents with English as a second language access to the same information as the rest of the community.
Additionally, the website redesign has provided for a more intuitive navigation scheme, allowing important information to be found more easily.
"The flow of communication within the site has been a big improvement," Jungmann said.
