Top MHS graduates for 2009 announced

Top graduates for the Monett High School Class of 2009 have been announced by Principal David Steward. Graduation will be held on Friday, May 15.

There are approximately 130 seniors who will receive diplomas during commencement exercises. Class size may drop slightly depending on student performance during the final weeks of school.

Valedictorian will be Alysia Phelps, duaghter of Charles and Marnita Phelps. Named salutatorian is Erin Daugherty, duaghter of Ed and Cathy Daugherty.

Other members of the top 10 percent of the Class of 2009 are, in alphabetical order: Kellen Bounous, son of Kyle and Rhonda Bounous; Kyle Coatney, son of Mark and Penni Coatney; Michael Kean, son of Eric and Sherry Kean; Kyle Meyer, son of Gary and Nancy Meyer; Colt Moller, son of Randy and Terry Moller; Brittany Nibert, daughter of Doug and Tammie Nibert; Kirstin Racicot, daughter of David and Denise Boyd; Carly Renfro, daughter of Gorden and Lezlie Renfro; Michael Roberts, son of Dr. Jerry and Denice Roberts; Daniela Villa, daughter of Francisco and Cleotilde Villa; and Rachelle Weatherly, daughter of Doug and Joni Weatherly.

The senior honors assembly will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 11 in the high school commons. Scholarships from local organizations as well as colleges and universities will be presented, and awards for outstanding achievement. The program is expected to last approximately 90 minutes.
