|The Purdy Eagles handed Jasper a 9-5 loss on Monday night.||Riley Veith picked up the win while Trent Goetz earned the save for the Eagle. But according to Coach Joshua Hughes, it is Derek Fulp who came up big on the mound.|
Fulp came in the game in the fifth with the bases loaded and was able to limit the damage. He then pitched a perfect sixth inning before turning it over to Goetz in the seventh with two runners on base.
Goetz helped himself at the plate, going two-for-four with a trip
and an RBI.
Last week, Purdy recorded a lopsided 19-0 win over Sarcoxie.
"Everyone got a chance to play and contribute in a big way," said Coach Hughes.
Mason Roller was three-for-three from the plate with a home run and six RBIs. Kevin Miller picked up his second pitching win of the season, pitching four innings and striking out six while walking none.
The highlight of the night was Blake Williams' return from the disabled list. The senior was three-for-four with a home run and five RBIs after being limited to two plate appearances so far this season.
"Blake finally got a start yesterday and proved to be a big part of our offense," said Coach Hughes.
The Purdy Eagles opened Ozark 7 Conference play on Tuesday night
against McAuley. Purdy is now 6-1 for the season.
