Maxine S. (Shipman) Vincent, of Aurora passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in the Aurora Nursing Center. She was born on September 1, 1920 in Aurora, the daughter of Noah Ray and Gladys (Woodford) Shipman. Maxine was a 1938 graduate of Aurora High School. She worked for a decade in Hollywood, and then moved to the Virgin Islands for a number of years before returning to Aurora. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for the Missouri Chest Hospital in Mt. Vernon until her retirement. Maxine was an active member and Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution Elkhorn Chapter, Ladies Saturday Club, the Westminster Circle, and faithful friend of the First Presbyterian Church of Aurora.

She is survived by her nieces and nephew; Joan Dianne Marchese, Linda Woods and James L. Shipman, Jr., and numerous great nieces and a great nephew. Her parents; husband, Ross Vincent; and two brothers, Capt. James L. Shipman, Sr. and Bobbie Joe Shipman preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009 in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial in the Orange Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
