Area Cagers, Coaches Earn All-State Honors

The Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association released its picks for the high school girls and boys basketball All-State teams and coaches of the year, as well as the final rankings in each class.

Exeter's Whitney Edie led the picks in Class 1 girls by being named to the All-State first team, and teammate Destani Stensrud was named to the second team. Jason Cole was selected as the Class 1 Girls Coach of the Year after guiding the Lady Tigers to a state title.

The Class 2 Girls All-State first team included Miller's Hannah Wilkerson as well as Tashina Tennis, of the state champion Sparta team. Kayla Coffer and Brooke Stevens, of Sparta, joined Whitney Mills, of Couch, on the Class 2 girls second team.
Justin Jack, a 6'2" sophomore from Miller, was voted to the Class 2 Boys All-State first team and the Cardinals were ranked third in the final Class 2 poll. Jeremy Dresslaer,a junior guard from Clever, was named to the Class 2 Boys second team.
The Blue Eye Bulldogs were ranked fourth in Class 3 and landed two players on the All State second team: seniors Logan Decker and Trae Patton. Zack Cline, of Mt. Vernon, made the second team.
Branson's 6'6" senior, Mike Wiebe, made the Class 5 first team, and the Pirates finished the season ranked fourth. Aurora appeared in fifth place in the final Class 4 poll, led by senior Ryan Carmichael, a second team selection.
Patrick Holt, of Chadwick, was included on the Class 1 Boys first team that featured three Scott County Central players, and his team placed fourth in the state rankings. Chadwick's Shaun Thomas was included on the second team.
