Betty Doss

Mrs. Betty Jo Doss, 84, of Pierce City, Missouri, formerly of Monett, passed away at 12:04 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009, at her son's home in Pierce City. She was born November 25, 1924, in Monett, Missouri, the daughter of the late Earl and Marie (Prewitt) McCracken. She was united in marriage to Rayno C. Doss on December 20, 1947, in Berryville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death November 15, 1993.

Betty Jo was a homemaker. She was a member of the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church in Purdy. She also was a retired head cook for Loaves & Fishes of Monett.

She is survived by three sons: Stephen Doss and wife, Jane, David Doss and wife, Etta, both of Monett, Missouri, and Ronnie Doss of Pierce City, Missouri; one brother: Paul McCracken and wife, Viola, of Pierce City, Missouri; one sister: Mary Hemphill and husband Harley, of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Betty was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Lee Henderson; one daughter-in-law, Margaret Henderson; two brothers, Junior and Raydon McCracken; and three sisters, Nadine Thomas, Ruby Martin, and Wilma Bradford.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett, Missouri, with Rev. Lee Neill officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Butterfield, Missouri. Visitation will be held Friday, April 10, 2009, from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Loaves and Fishes in care of the funeral home.
