Opening the boys spring tennis season in fine style yesterday at Monett North Park, the Monett Cubs blanked the Nevada Tigers, 9-0.
"It's cold and windy," commented MHS coach Bob Crain. "This is not good tennis weather."
Nevertheless, the weather did not seem to affect the Cubs as they won all six singles matches and all three doubles encounters.
Winning in singles play for Monett were: Sean Medlin over Taylor Chapman 8-2; Johannes Eisenhardt over Dominic Habjan 8-1; Colt Moller over James Smith 8-2; Drew Williams over Jordan McCall 8-3; Michael Kean over Colton Hardy 8-0; and Al Dohmen over Josh Lowry 8-2.
Posting doubles victories for the Cubs were: Medlin and Eisenhardt over Chapman and Habjan 9-7; Williams and Kean over Smith and Lowry 8-1; and Moller and Dohmen over McCall and Hardy 8-2.
In exhibition singles play, Andres DeLeon and Caleb McCurry logged wins.
Monett will next be in action tomorrow at home versus Thomas Jefferson.
