Monett's Cubs boys were second and the Monett Lady Cubs came in fourth yesterday in the first spring track competition for Monett this year.
In the Reeds Spring event, the boys Cubs were second with 97 points to first place Ozark which had 206. Other teams and scores were: Bolivar 60, Reeds Spring 51, Cassville and Mt. Vernon 45, Springfield Catholic 41 and Aurora 11.
Placing first for Monett were: Steven Noriega in the 400 meter with a time of 53.1; and D.J. Dunmire in the pole vault with a height of 12'6".
Coming in second were: the 4 by 800 relay team of Juan Renteria, Garrett Dutton, Chris Renteria and Steven Noriega with a time of 9:067.7; the 4 by 100 relay team of Maruicio Trujillo, Scotty Wilson, Chris Eimer and D.J.Dunmire; and Chris Renteria in the 3,200 meter.
Third place finishers were: the 4 by 200 relay team of Mauricio Trujillo, Scotty Wilson, Tristen Homfeldt and Chris Eimer; the 4 by 400 relay team of Matt Hinkle, Juan Renteria, D.J. Dunmire and Steven Noreiga; Garrett Dutton in the 800 meter: Beau Bounous in the discus: and Chris Eimer in the long jump.
Taking fourth place were: Harold Gabriel in the 800 meter; D.J. Dunmire in the high jump: and Jason Obermann in the shot put and discus.
Coming in fifth were: Micha Miller in the 3,200 meter; Chris Eimer in the high jump; and Josh Shaner in the triple jump.
Finishing sixth was Clint Cloud in the discus.
The Lady Cubs came in fourth with 66 1/3 points. Ozark won the meet with 145 points, Bolivar was second with 130 points, and Cassville came in fourth with 74 points. Other teams and scores: Springfield Catholic 35, Reeds Spring 32 1/2, Aurora 30 and Mt. Vernon 26 1/3.
Amanda McKinney captured first place for the Lady Cubs in the triple jump. She had a distance of 32' 5 inches.
Finishing second was Jenny Frazier in the shot put.
Third place finishers were: Tiffany Carver in the long jump; Leah Fellwock in the 300 intermediate hurdles; and the 4 by 100 relay team of Tiffany Carver, Erin Daugherty, Jordan VanLue and Millie Fulton.
Placing fourth were: Amanda McKinney in the 400 meter; Hannah Martin in the 3200 meter; Keli Cornell in the high jump; and the 4 by 200 relay team of Leah Fellwock, Sarah Hammond, Amanda McKinney and Millie Fulton.
Fifth place finishers were: Keli Cornell in the shot put; Sarah Hammon in the triple jump; and Jenny Frazier in the discus.
Taking sixth place were: Tiffany Carver in the 200 meter; Leah Fellwock in the 100 high hurdles; and the 4 by 800 relay team of Lauren Sebastian, Whitney Dahlstrom, Hannah Martin and Bianca Holloway.
The Monett teams will next be in action tomorrow at Carthage.
