James Vernon Ellis, 76, of Washburn, died March 24, 2009, at his home.

Mr. Ellis was born July 31, 1932, in Washburn, the son of Franklin and Sarah Mahurin Ellis. He was a Baptist.

He married Kathryn Keene on Nov. 26, 1955, and she survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Roger Ellis, of Seligman, and Eddie Ellis, of Washburn; one daughter, Verna Lewis, of Washburn; one brother, Lloyd Ellis, of Washburn; one sister, Vivian O'Donnell, of Jacket; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lemmie and Bob Ellis; and one sister, Velma Stephens.

The body has been cremated under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home of Cassville.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 3 at the First Baptist Church in Washburn.
