Crews from Hutchens Construction moved in this morning to pave the two new bridges on Eisenhower Street in Monett, completing the railroad overpass project stopped by winter weather when the area asphalt plant shut down. A foreman for Hutchens planned to finish paving on Eisenhower today. While traffic to side streets will be open this evening, Monett Street Superintendent Russ Balmas said his crews still have guardrails and fences to install on the bridges and striping to paint on the roadway. The bridges will remain barricaded until that work is finished. The tentative opening date has now been set for April 10. Hutchens crews will also pave the new parking lot where the old police station had been located.
