Individual awards from coaches to Monett High School athletes who participated in the winter sports of boys basketball, girls basketball and wrestling were presented at last Thursday night's annual winter sports program at Monett High School.
Ty Goetz, boys basketball coach, presented awards to:
Spenser Witt for most steals and most assists; Kirk Moore for most rebounds, most charges taken, offensive player of the year, Cub award,and most valuable player; Kyle Coatney for best free throw percentage and defensive player of the year; and Tyler Green for newcomer of the year.
Derrek Uhl, girls basketball coach, presented awards to:
Madison Carlin for scoring leader and steals leader; Jenny Frazier for highest free throw percentage; Amanda McKinney for assist leader; and Denae Beckett for Lady Cub award.
In addition, Madison Carlin was recognized for being named to the Big 8 Conference all-conference second team and Madison Carlin was recognized for being the new school record holder for assists in a season with 148.
Daryl Bradley, wrestling coach, presented awards to:
Clint Cloud for most improved wrestler; Ethan Davis for most inspiring wrestler; Michael Merritt for Mr. Cub award; Kellen Bounous and Kyle Meyer for outstanding wrestler awards; and Kyle Meyer for being Missouri's 17th four-time state champion.
In addition, plaques were awarded to the following wrestlers for being state placers and qualifiers: Chris Renteria, Carter Huffmaster, Ethan Davis, Michael Merritt, Kellen Bounous, Kyle Meyer, Scotty Wilson, Jantsen Boucher, D. J. Dunmire and Clint Cloud.
