Experience Bodes Well For This Year's MHS Tennis Season

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Five returning starters for the Monett Cubs tennis team signal strong hopes for a better season this year.

Bob Crain, coach of the Monett netters, commented: "We will compete well against schools our size, but have problems against the bigger schools.

"Districts have been reorganized this year. Logan-Rogersville, third in their district last year, and Forsyth, first in their district last year, have been moved to our district," Crain said. "Thomas Jefferson, who was second in the state last year, and Webb City are also in our district so it is easy to see our district will be exceptionally tough this year."

Returning varsity lettermen for Monett are Sean Medlin, Taylor Petersen, Drew Williams, Colt Moller, Michael Kean and Al Dohmen.

The coach cited Johannes Eisenhardt, a foreign exchange student from Germany, and Mike Barnes as top prospects.

Returning players for the Cubs are Luis Rueda, Homero Sanchez, Matt Obermann, Neshat Osmani, Andres DeLeon and Billy Stockton.

New players on the team are Pedro Almaraz, Daniel Bryan, Nicholas Forbis, Shane George, Alexander Hall, Brandon Klick, Abraham Mejia, Alonzo Perez, Isaac Weber and Andrew Williams.
