Final preparations are underway for the Monett Chamber of Commerce's annual membership meeting on Thursday in the commons room of the Southwest Area Career Center, behind Monett High School.
The theme for the banquet is A Night in the Spotlight, highlighting activities that occurred during the past year because of the membership. Banquet chairman Cindy Pittman stressed the Chamber's banquet is more of a community event. and not just Chamber members. "Everyone is welcome!," she stressed.
The Springfield-based comedy troupe Skinny Improv will be headlining the evening's entertainment, setting the tone for an evening of fun. The Skinny Improv gang will offer a program similar to Drew Carrey's Who's Line Is It? Winners of the annual Community Service and Pride and Progress awards will also be announced.
"This year we have put a lot of emphasis on the importance of our Chamber members and businesses including the free Spotlight article to promote and showcase a business member in our monthly newsletter. We recognize the challenges that businesses are facing and really appreciate them as members. With that said, this year our theme is called A Night in the Spotlight, like The Oscars. We are pulling out the red carpet for our membership. Attire is still casual/business casual or dressier if desired," Pittman stated.
The meal is catered by Maggie Mae's of Miller. Tickets are still available at the Chamber office for $22.50. "We lowered the price in consideration of the current economic tightening. Should be a fun night full of entertainment," Pittman added.
