EFCO President Mike Farquhar, pictured at right, was pleased to announce EFCO's contribution toward the new Monett Area YMCA. YMCA Board member Jack Prim, at center, and YMCA Executive Director Gordon Brown, at left, thanked Farquhar for his company's generous gift. EFCO is a Pella company.
EFCO, a business that has been part of the Monett community for more than 50 years, is continuing to show its support for the area. The company has pledged monetary contributions totaling a quarter million dollars over the next five years toward the construction of a new YMCA facility for the area.

EFCO, a Pella company, manufactures architectural windows, curtain walls, storefronts and entry systems that create unique design options for glazing contractors and commercial building owners across the United States.

EFCO has always been an enthusiastic supporter of the local community. As part of this commitment and in addition to their monetary contribution, EFCO has also committed to donate some of their team members' time to assist with installing the locally made and hand-crafted window and door products that will be part of the new building.

Mike Farquhar, president of EFCO, commented that "EFCO has a rich history over many years of supporting worthwhile projects in the Monett community," said Mike Farquhar, EFCO president. "Since EFCO became a Pella Company in 2007, we have been proud to build on this tradition of community support."

Farquhar moved to the area after the company based in his hometown of Pella, Iowa, acquired the Monett-based EFCO Corporation.

As an active member of the community in Iowa, Farquhar looked for ways he could be involved in his new home.

"The YMCA is so important to Monett and to our EFCO team members and their families with the many activities and programs that it provides," Farquhar said. "These programs promote healthy lifestyles and provide much needed outlets for kids of all ages.

"With the addition of this new building, the YMCA will be in a better position to fulfill its mission and make Monett an even better place for people to live and work," Farquhar added. "We are proud to support this project."

As announced in the Pride and Progress section of The Monett Times on Feb. 27, the Monett YMCA has been gearing up to launch a capital campaign aimed at increasing the level of service that the YMCA can provide to residents of Monett and the surrounding areas.

For information on how to contribute to the building of the new YMCA, contact YMCA Director Gordon Brown at 235-8213 or at gbrown@monettymca.org. The capital campaign's website at www.yourmonettymca.org.

The Monett Family YMCA is a part of the Ozarks Regional YMCA association and has served the community for over 120 years with over 20,000 members in the association to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

The Ozarks Regional YMCA consists of seven branches including: The Ozark Mountain Branch in Hollister; Bolivar/Dallas County Area YMCA; Monett/Cassville; Camp Wakonda; Child Care branches and two facilities in Springfield.
