News comes that about 5,000 rainbow trout were taken at Roaring River on the 12th annual opening day of the trout fishing season in Missouri.

Barry County Sheriff Troy Wilson has just completed the installation of a bath tub with hot and cold water in the jail in Cassville.


March 2, 1949

Frank Massey of Sarcoxie landed his limit of six rainbows in four and a half minutes yesterday during the opening of trout fishing season at Roaring River.

More than 1,800 telephone users are listed in the new Monett telephone director issued today by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.

Henry Planchon, fire chief of Monett, has announced his retirement, effective the first day of April.

Monett's boys Cubs won their second regional championship in six years last night by eking out a 44-41 basketball decision over McDonald County.

Official opening of the 1969 trout fishing season at Roaring River State Park shattered all previous records with 1,800 fishing tags sold by 8 a.m.

Final preparations were made yesterday for the demolition of the 32-year-old Sonic restaurant in Monett, and manager Rocky Gaston said a new restaurant will be built in about 85 days.
