EIGHTY YEARS AGO

March 10, 1929

J. C. Reynolds of Monett has mentioned that his niece, Mrs. Art Hoover, married the second cousin of President Herbert Hoover.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baird, Mr. and Mrs. John McTigue, and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Bartelsmeyer of Monett visited in Springfield on Monday.

Among those taking part in the style show at the Muriel Shop in Monett were Mrs. P. N. Cook, Miss Vonna Wormington, Miss Mary Hall, and Miss Freda Kasse.

Vogt's Paint and Wallpaper Store of Monett has announced the arrival of gay new patterns in paper.

March 10, 1949

Residents of Monett and southwest Missouri will have an opportunity to see the new 1949 Silver Anniversary Chrysler on display at the Charley Robb Motor Company at 503 Broadway in Monett.

Lucille Baxter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has arrived in Monett for a visit with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Kinney.

At least 130 volunteer donors for the American Red Cross bloodmobile in Monett on Friday are being sought to insure reaching the quota of 105 pints.

Quill and Scroll pins for membership in the National Journalism Honor Society were received today by member of the Monett High School journalism class.

March 10, 1969

A chapel for the deaf has been started at the Assembly of God, 607 East Benton, in Monett, with all services being in sign language.

Missouri Vanguard Theatre's production of J. B. will be presented at Monett High School on March 20.

TWENTY YEARS AGO

March 10, 1989

Meals were served for the first time yesterday from the just-completed kitchen at the new $200,000 Monett Senior Citizens Center, 401 Dairy Street.

Missouri Governor John Ashcroft flew into Barry County this morning to survey the damage from the weekend snowstorm in preparation to declaring the stricken areas of southwest Missouri a disaster area.

TEN YEARS AGO

March 10, 1999

Richard Heim has been named the new president of the Monett Chamber of Commerce for the coming year and Kevin Wodlinger was named the new vice president.

Around 80 Monett grandparents attended Monett Elementary School years for Grandparents Day.
