Joe was raised in Monett, MO, son of Louis and Ethel (Lee) Maritan. Joe served as a U.S. Navy Signalman during WW II. He was severely injured during the invasion of Salerno, and was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained. He went on to become a War Bonds spokesman Throughout the duration of the war. Upon his discharge, Joe began a career within the telecommunications industry and rose to a senior management position of a Directory Publishing Company. His career spanned 55 years of company service within the Telecommunications industry. Survivors include wife, Marjorie Jean Maritan of 62 years, son, Mickey J. Maritan (Linda), Daughter, Jeannie Marie Pellman (George), grandchildren, Amber Maritan, Aprill Maritan, Angie Dickerson (Dwayne), Scott Pellman (Kelli), great grandchildren, Katie Dickerson, Brady, and Nathan Pellman.
