Texas man injured in motorcycle wreck

A Midland, Texas man was injured Tuesday in a motorcycle accident at 2 p.m. on the I-44 on-ramp, just south of Halltown. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Report, John Kerbox, 50, of Midland, Texas, was riding a 2001 Suzuki Intruder when his bio ran off the right side of the roadway. Kerbox attempted to stabilize the motorcycle by placing his left leg down, and the injury occurred when the motorcycle overturned on top of him...

'Twelve Angry Men' to include 3 actors from Monett

Three cast members from Monett are participating in the production of a classic courthouse drama. The Mt. Vernon Community Theater will present "Twelve Angry Men" from Oct. 24-26. Monett actors in the show include Sonya Kew, who also appeared in last year's production of "Steel Magnolias," Adam Verstraete, who played Jew's harp in the orchestra of "Shenandoah" this summer, and Robin Braun in her first show with the company. House on Ninth Street to be torn down

The city of Monett recently authorized the demolition of the house at 104 Ninth St., on the recommendation of the Building Board. Board Commissioner Jerry Dierker said the house has been empty on and off over the past 20 years. Remodeling 15 years ago had not addressed the structure's deteriorating condition, leaving the house with holes in the floor...

Monett Elementary students add color with morning run (Local News ~ 10/17/14)
Children at Monett Elementary School on Thursday participated in a color run on the walking track. Wellness director Alex Hutchings said this was the second color run at the school, the first this school year. Change orders drop cost of safe room

A change order in the construction contract with Springfield Builders for the storm safe room on Marshall Hill, now known at the Monett Community Building, further reduced its cost. According to Dennis Pyle, city administrator, the original contract cost $844,545. An earlier change order opting for a plain concrete floor and a more maintenance-free exterior dropped the price by $1,427.42...

Monett buys new street equipment

The city of Monett has made new equipment purchases for its street department. A new street sweeper has been purchased for $194,000 from Key Equipment Company and went into immediate use. Norman charged in sex case

A Cassville man was officially charged Wednesday after being arrested on Oct. 10 for allegedly attempting to engage in sexual acts with a 12-year-old girl.
