Walk to School Day continues to Central Park Elementary (Local News ~ 10/08/14)
The second of three Walk to School Days continued on Tuesday with children, parents and volunteers gathering at 7 a.m. at Cox Monett Hospital to walk to Central Park Elementary. A total of 32 children and 25 adults, including parents, school staff and volunteers, participated. A third Walk to School Day will be held today to go to the Monett Middle School and Intermediate School. The effort is part of the Health Schools, Healthy Communities initiation. Car, deer collide Monday on Route H north of Monett

A Monett woman's vehicle collided with a deer Monday night on Route H, half a mile north of Monett. Cassandra Schroeder, 26, of Monett, was traveling southbound on Route H when her 2009 Dodge Caliber struck a deer. Schroeder, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Cox Monett Hospital by a private vehicle. The Caliber suffered extensive damage...

Vernon for the 48th annual Apple Butter Makin' Days, running Friday through Sunday in the downtown square and on adjacent streets. Technology opportunities, challenges hit library

The Barry-Lawrence Regional Library has received a grant for equipment that will bring a new resource to the four largest branches in the system: Monett, Cassville, Aurora and Mt. Vernon.
