Small industry coming to Monett

A deal with the Monett City Council is bringing a new small industry to Monett. Details were announced at the July 19 council meeting. Steel Tech, a firm that makes steel super-structures for metal buildings, will lease the south building at the former Olympia Foundry. The two-year deal will charge the firm $500 per month for the first six months, $750 a month for the second six months and $1,000 per month for the remainder of the lease...

Hazel Myers Doll, age 85, of Hutchinson, Kan., formerly of Cassville, died July 27, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Hutchinson. Hazel was born May 31, 1928 in Cassville, Mo., the daughter of Hoover M. and Grace P. Wollenbarger Hicks. She was a 1946 graduate of Cassville High School and later moved to Ulysses, Kan., where she met her husband, Ray Myers. They were married Aug. 3, 1950 at her parents' home in Cassville. First Berry Pie Contest slated

Area residents should get ready for some lip-smackin' fun. The Cassville Market on the Square is hosting its first Berry Pie Contest, starting at 8 a.m. on Aug. 10 at the Edmonson Building, located at 613 Main St. in Cassville. The contest is open to anyone, but restrictions do apply. Pies must be made of berries and no other fruit. Pies must also be baked in an aluminum foil pan, with the entrant's name, address and contact information printed on an index card...

Two Cassville women were hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 5:40 p.m. on July 27.
