Construction contract for water plant awarded

The Monett City Council took a major step toward building a new water treatment plant on July 11 by awarding a $12.2 million construction contract to Crossland Construction, based in Columbus, Kan. Five major contractors bid on the project. Crossland's bid of $12,211,323 was more than $200,000 less than the next lowest bidder, Branco Enterprises, which built upgrades on the city's waste treatment plant. The high bidder was DeWitt and Associates at just over $13 million...
