The Pierce City Eagles (1-1) baseball team spilt two games on March 16. The Eagles opened the day defeating Crane 12-3 and then fell 11-4 to Conway. "We have a lot of question about roster positions coming into today's games," said Pierce City coach Beau Davis. The Monett Lady Cubs (0-1) fell 6-0 to Carthage in their inaugural soccer game on March 15. The purple and gold were outshot 31-0 but it didn't matter, the Lady Cubs represented themselves well on the soccer pitch. The Monett Cubs kicked off the 2012-13 baseball campaign with an 8-1 victory over Bolivar on March 15. The Cubs pitching ace, Aaron Patton, looked like he was in mid-season form allowing only one hit and fanning 12 Liberator hitters. The Monett southpaw only needed seven pitches to cruise through the first three hitters. The Cubs offense gave him some breathing room early... -

Monett High School hosted its winter sports Award Night last Thursday, March 14 night. Boys and girls basketball players and wrestlers were recognized by their coaches for their efforts during the 2012-13 season.
