R-1 Board changes calendar for 2013-14 school year (01/14/13)
Monett R-1 board members approved the school calendar for the 2013-14 year after extended talks with the staff. Superintendent Brad Hanson said the coming year offered challenges with Christmas and New Year's Day falling on a Wednesday. A normal schedule suggested an extended Christmas break but that could extend classes nearly to Memorial Day if year-end snow days were all used...

Jaycees hit hard by thieves (01/14/13)
The Monett Jaycees have been hit by area copper thieves, and as a result, the organization is having to host a series of fundraisers to replace wiring needed to run the annual Jaycees Carnival. Thieves struck the storage building where the cables are stored sometime on Sunday, Jan. 6 or early Monday, Jan. 7. Five hurt in crashes (01/14/13)
Two Pierce City men were involved in a two-vehicle crash on Jan. 12 six miles east of Diamond.
