Linn Thornton's dinner tops last year's record (12/27/12)
The family center at the First United Methodist Church in Monett was packed with people at midday on Tuesday, Dec. 25. Linn Thornton's 28th annual Christmas Day dinner attracted a record crowd, even though many enjoyed the meal from home. The threat of winter weather may have contributed to the crowd coming early. Sandy Hook tragedy compels R-6 board to provide upgrades, training (12/27/12)
In the wake of the Sandy Hook School shootings, which took place on Dec. 14 in Newton, Conn., parents and patrons of the Pierce City School District have been contacting the school for reassurances on the district's plan to keep students safe. Hike at Roaring River State Park on New Year's Day (12/27/12)

A Pierce City man was injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:40 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24 on Highway 97 about four miles north of Pierce City.
