Dacy Christmas ornament now on sale (11/26/12)
The Dacy Foundation now has its 2012 Christmas ornament, the 10th in a series, featuring the Lawrence County Bank, on sale at First State Bank and City Hall in Pierce City. Cost of the ornament is $6. The Lawrence County Bank was built in 1892 Jerome B. Legg, a St. Louis architect. Legg designed the building in late Victorian Romanesque style. The use of rusticated limestone blocks and round arched windows are typical of the late 19th century architectural style...
Fatal fire's cause remains unknown (11/26/12)
Several days after the the apartment fire that killed five people in Wheaton, no determination has been made as to the cause of the fire. The fire erupted around 3 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22.
