Corn Maize to open Sept. 22 (09/19/12)
With over seven acres of corn planted, the GRIP boys' home in Verona is bringing its Corn Maize attraction back for a 14th season. The popular autumn attraction opens to the public on Sept. 22. The GRIP home is a non-profit program for boys from troubled backgrounds that operates the corn maze as an annual fall fundraiser. A Pierce City woman sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 4:45 a.m. on Sept. 16 on County Road 2030 three miles west of Monett. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened when the driver of a 2010 Jeep Cherokee, Lindsey Dieckhoff, 20, of Pierce City, traveled off the left side of the road, struck a utility pole and the vehicle caught fire.
