Fires Threaten Structures (08/29/12)
A massive fire broke out at approximately 1 p.m. today after an individual towing a vehicle caused sparks to ignite dry grass along Highways BB and 1090. At last report, 11 fire departments had responded to the multiple fires caused from the incident. It is not clear how many acres have burned, but it has been re-ported that several struc-tures are threatened and some have been engulfed. Keep watching for more updates as they happen...
Two Injured in Crash (08/29/12)

Crowder numbers nearly double at Monett campus (08/29/12)
Enrollment at the Monett campus of Crowder College have increased 95 percent this fall over last year. Angela Seymour, director at Crowder College Cassville Campus, said 614 credit hours are scheduled for this fall, compared to 315 in 2011. A total of 64 students are enrolled in classes at the Monett campus compared to 43 at the start of classes last fall, for 41 full-time equivalent (FTE), compared to 21 FTE last fall...

A major reclassification of Barry-Lawrence Regional Library employees has been approved by the Board of Directors at its August meeting. Director Gina Milburn made her first proposals for streamlining the staff and branch classifications. The bridge deck will be replaced on the Highway 39 bridge over Table Rock Lake in Shell Knob. Traffic will be reduced to one lane during the week of Sept. 4. A formal ceremony was held on Saturday during the Wheaton barbecue to dedicate the flagpole from the retired VFW Post as part of a larger memorial at the Wheaton Museum.
