Downtown Monett to get a new brand (06/14/12)
The community has spoken and Monett Main Street now has a new logo and tagline that will be used to promote the downtown area. An online survey attracted 138 responses, which members of the Monett Main Street Committee thought was excellent. Plane crash injures pilot (06/14/12)
An 86-year-old Mt. Vernon man crashed while trying to land a small plane on a private grass airstrip on Tuesday. The pilot, David Biellier, miscalculated and the plane hit some trees and a fence. Meth lab arrests made in Purdy (06/14/12)
A methamphetamine lab was seized and two arrests for trafficking in controlled substances were made in Purdy. According to a release from Police Chief Jackie Lowe, Officer Russ Nichols identified a suspicious vehicle in the vicinity of the Autumn Woods apartments on May 5. Purdy City Council members look at city insurance (06/14/12)
Purdy aldermen purchased a new storm siren at their May meeting. Aldermen heard presentations from storm siren vendors at a special meeting on May 1. Having reviewed bids, they voted to buy a larger, more expensive Century siren from Storm Sirens Inc. of Norman, Okla. for $19,995. Dutra said the Century model had fewer moving parts and ran primarily on AC electricity, rather than batteries. The siren is expected to be audible at a quarter mile distance...
