Monett house fire ruled arson (06/11/12)
A house fire that occurred on Thursday in the 300 block of Hazel Street in Monett has been ruled arson. Monett Fire Chief Tom Jones said the call came in at 9:26 p.m. Thursday night and crews responded to 335 Hazel St. to find the home engulfed in flames...

Missouri Summer Weather Safety Week is June 24-30, and the National Weather Service is reminding area residents to keep cool if a triple-digit heat wave hits. Monett Council eyes architect for casino project (06/11/12)
The Monett City Council is considering hiring R.E. Horner, an architect from Verona, to draft the specifications for the new Monett City Park Casino. Horner submitted the only proposal considered at a special council meeting on Tuesday. The architect specifying his fee would be 5 percent of the construction cost. For a project between $900,000 and $1.2 million, Horner's fee would run from $45,000 to $60,000...
