Fatal accident update (04/27/12)
A woman was killed in an early crash this morning on Highway 60 just west of Monett. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at 6:15 a.m. when the driver of a 2001 Ford Escort, Mary J. West, 63, of Granby, crossed the center line in the roadway and struck a 1985 Peterbilt semi-tractor, driven by Loren E. Easley, 61 of Cassville, head on...
FATALITY CRASH (04/27/12)
Area firefighters, Monett Police Department and members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol were working the scene of a fatal crash that occurred this morning on Highway 60 west of Monett. According to Trooper John Lueckenoff, the driver of the eastbound car appeared to have crossed the center line and crashed head-on into the westbound semi-tractor. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family members...

Monettans knew the wind was pretty blustery today, but the fact was more than proved when city workers were called to Cale and Fifth Streets to clear a 30-foot three that had blown down and was blocking a portion of the road. The incident occurred shortly before noon.

UMB Financial Corp., which operates two bank branches in Monett, reported record earnings for the quarter ending on March 31.
