Bikers Against Dumb Drivers plan events (04/02/12)
The Monett Chapter of Bikers Against Dumb Drivers (BADD) recently celebrated one year of service and made plans for upcoming activities. City discusses school officer program (04/02/12)
The Monett City Council discussed arrangements for continuing the school resource officer program during its March meeting. Mayor Jim Orr said the school resource officer started under the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program, but grants backing the effort expired long ago. City Administrator Dennis Pyle said the city approached the Monett R-1 School District about sharing costs, since the officer splits his time between police duties and school activities...
Sales tax is on the rebound (04/02/12)
Sales tax disbursements to bi-county cities and county governments showed a sharp rebound in March. Declines in February were erased, leaving 12 of 13 cities with higher revenues than a year ago. Monett registered the sharpest increase over last March of all the bi-county cities. The $184,790.43 generated by the two taxes for the general fund was up $72,304.75 from a year ago. Total receipts from Monett's four sales taxes rose by $125,458.50 or 64 percent over last March...
