Jury selection in murder trial going slowly (03/05/12)
Jury selection in the murder trial of Christopher Collins, the man accused of raping and murdering 9-year-old Rowan Ford in November of 2007, is taking longer than expected. According to court officials, the jury selection process entered its sixth day on Monday. If proceedings conclude by Wednesday, the trial could begin with opening statements on Thursday...
Dancing at state (03/05/12)
The Monett High School Pizzazz Poms dance team, pictured above, competed at the State Dance Team Championships held in Lee's Summit on March 25. More than 90 dance teams from across the state of Missouri participated in the competition, and Pizzazz Poms received third place in 2A Hip Hop and earned the 2A Division Academic All-State Award for having the highest team GPA (3.727) out of the 16 schools that competed in the 2A division. ...

The Pierce City R-6 Board of Education approved renewing a contract with OPAA! Food Management, Inc. to provide breakfast and lunch to the students of the district. The approval came at the Feb. 29 meeting of the school board.
