Couple marks anniversary with trip to Australia (11/22/11)
Larry and Donna Morrison, of Monett, recently returned from a three-week tour of Australia to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The Morrisons had visited Australia on their 45th wedding anniversary and enjoyed a guided tour. Young Monett squad falls Willard Lady Tigers (11/22/11)
The 2011-12 Monett Lady Cubs basketball season got off to a rocky start as they fell 70-19 to Willard in the season opener Monday night. "Willard is a good team; we knew that coming into the game," said Monett coach Derrek Uhl. "We are a young program and made some mistakes that led to easy baskets for the Lady Tigers. Seneca sweeps MMS Lady Cubs (11/22/11)
The Monett Middle School Lady Cubs seventh and eighth basketball teams tangled with Seneca last Thursday. The eighth grade "A" team fell 26-20 to the Lady Indians. "We had some defensive breakdowns off the ball early that cost us," said Monett eighth grade coach Alan Nunemaker. Monett High School hosted its annual awards ceremony last Tuesday night. Monett athletes and their families were treated to a catered meal sponsored by the Monett Athletic Booster Club. Lea Periman, a seventh grade student at Monett Middle School, attended the junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., in July. St. Mary's School in Pierce City held its annual carnival on Oct. 29 following the 4 p.m. Mass. It began with an "all you can eat" meal of chili and soup.
