Leadership Monett class to graduate (11/11/11)
The 2011 Leadership Monett class is slated to graduate next Thursday, Nov. 17. The leadership development program is sponsored annually by the Monett Chamber of Commerce. This year's class includes 14 participants representing various businesses and industries. The group will enjoy a dinner and graduation ceremony at the Monett South Park Casino. HEAVY LIFTING AT THE NEW Y (11/11/11)
Work progresses on the aquatic center portion of the new Monett Area YMCA facility on Highway 37 south of Monett. The 15th beam was dropped into place last Friday afternoon as the 16th was being delivered. Work is progressing quickly on the center, but much remains to be done. Casino survey results reviewed (11/11/11)
The Monett City Council was updated on the results from a recent survey the city conducted concerning the future of the Monett Park Casino. City Administrator Dennis Pyle said nearly 94 percent of those responding felt the city should continue operating such a facility for public use and 41 percent of those answering the survey were in favor of a newer more contemporary building...
TRAIL OF TREATS (11/11/11)
Benchmark Healthcare of Monett hosted its annual "Trail of Treats" on Oct. 31 from 6 to 7 p.m. Residents at Benchmark enjoyed Halloween night by greeting an array of spooks, goblins, witches and beautiful princesses. Sheriff's office plans Angel Tree project (11/11/11)
Once again, the Barry County Sheriff's Department is accepting donations for its sixth annual Angel Tree campaign to benefit children of Barry County during the holiday season. Names of children in need in Barry County will be placed on a Christmas tree at the Barry County Sheriff's Department in Cassville. Board in Freistatt approves roof work (11/11/11)
Freistatt Board of Trustee members approved spending $780 to repair the roof on the Freistatt Community Building during their October board meeting. The roofing over the addition housing the city offices had deteriorated. Blackburn Roofing, of Pierce City, submitted the only bid. Three firms were contacted and asked to submit quotes.
