Barry County Health Board raises flu shot cost (07/29/11)
The Barry County Health Department Board of Trustees voted to raise the cost of flu vaccinations at its regularly scheduled meeting on July 21. "Over the last two or three years, many places have increased their cost to $20 or $25," said Carol Landstad, Barry County Health Department public health coordinator. Monett city crews report busy month (07/29/11)
Monett city employees reported at the July Monett City Council meeting that departments have been busy during the past month. Police Lieutenant Greg Brandsma said officers are responding to a larger number of incidents during summer months. Brandsma attributed the hot weather with contributing to people staying indoors and getting on each other's nerves. Hot days even hotter due to grass fires (07/29/11)
Firefighters around Monett have been scrambling this week, often in support of nearby departments, to grass fires. The fire shown above broke out without any apparent source in a wooded field three miles east of Freistatt around noon on Thursday. The Monett Fire Department's brush truck, driven by Lance Allcock with Danny Fowler on the cannon, joined Freistatt Fire Association Chief Leland Doss, Art Mattlage, Jeffrey Losack and Willie Hesemann in stopping the fire. ...
Pierce City Museum board looks at resources, programs (07/29/11)
The Pierce City Museum board reviewed resources and ideas for future programs at its second meeting since reorganization. President Ronnie Landoll presided over a full board. Summer Odyssey group has food drive (07/29/11)
The Monett Area YMCA Summer Odyssey child care program conducted a food drive during the first 60 days of the program.
