MPD responds to concerns about teens downtown (07/21/11)
Growing concerns about teens congregating on Broadway this summer have led to renewed efforts by Monett police and merchants to address the situation. Monett Police Department was busy with June cases (07/21/11)
Officers with the Monett Police Department responded to 75 criminal incidents for the month of June, along with 17 collisions involving 33 vehicles. Four injury wrecks were documented, along with 30 vehicles damaged during June. A total of six persons were injured...
Stream sampling project is continuing in Lawrence County (07/21/11)
The Lawrence County Health Department is monitoring several streams within the county. Results indicate some areas have higher E. coli counts than EPA-recommended limits. E. coli is a fecal coliform bacteria that lives in all human and animal intestines. At present, there is no federal or state standards for E. coli densities in recreational waters. EPA's proposed standards for bacteria densities should not exceed 235 E. coli per 100 milliliters of fresh water for full body contact...

Shirley O'Hara retired from Schreiber Foods on July 13. At a celebration lunch enjoyed by plant partners, O'Hara was a member of the original crew that helped start up the Monett plant facility. O'Hara began her career with Schreiber Foods on Dec. 3, 1975. She worked as a wrapper operator until 1977 and then took a position in the lab as a technician. An Ash Grove man is dead following a single-vehicle crash six miles north of Halltown. The exact date and time of the crash are unknown, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The crash was reported at 7:58 p.m. yesterday. The driver of a 2002 Yamaha motorcycle, Michael J. Omara. 30, travelled off the roadway, struck an embankment and landed in the field.
