Cailyn Spears, 11, of Purdy, was all smiles as she entered the ring for the beef cattle junior showmanship event at the Barry County Fair. Lynn Carnes, of Monett, is the proud owner of a dapple dwarf dachshund, appropriately named Pee Wee. Pee Wee was born to miniature dachshund parents on April 19, weighing only a few ounces. PeeWee's mother, Fancy, had a litter of three puppies, two were miniatures and one was the dwarf puppy. ...
LawCo area streams tested in June (06/28/11)
The Lawrence County Health Department is monitoring several streams within the county. Results indicate some areas have higher E. coli counts than EPA recommended limits. E. coli is a fecal coliform bacteria that lives in all human and animal intestines. At present, there is no federal or state standards for E. coli densities in recreational waters. EPA's proposed standards for bacteria densities should not exceed 235 E. coli per 100 milliliters of fresh water for full body contact...
New scam promises stay-at- home jobs (06/28/11)
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Springfield is warning area residents of scammers using an accredited business name to dupe unemployed consumers into a work-from-home scheme. The agency took a report that a consumer received a call from an individual claiming to work with Century Bankcard Services and offering her a job, working from her home, selling credit card processing services. ...
