Moennig banks on experience in new role at First State (06/16/11)
Larry Moennig is ready for the changes he will experience in taking onthe duties of president at First State Bank. Moennig succeeded Ann Hall, who retired as president after 20 years on the job. Road districts select summer work (06/16/11)
With the arrival of summer weather, road districts around Monett have evaluated their budgets and targeted summer maintenance projects. Monett Special Road District commissioners met on Monday to look at needed work in the district. Superintendent Clayton Bunch and Commissioner Bill Medlin said crews in Lawrence County would overlay two miles of Farm Road 1070 between Farm Road 2220 and 2240 and a quarter mile on Farm Road 1050, west of the railroad tracks...
Monett Community Kitchen work continues (06/16/11)
The Community Kitchen in Monett is continuing its service with a few changes as the summer season kicks in. As of May 31, the kitchen had served a total of 6,784 meals out of the First United Methodist Church. According to spokesperson Brenda Davis, meals continue to be served on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and on Saturday from noon to 1 p.m...

Law enforcement officials are seeking information leading to the arrest of the man suspected of burglarizing the Shell Knob Plaza Pharmacy in the early morning hours of May 15. Around 150 people turned out on Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Monett to say goodbye to Pastor Clif Crockett, who gave his last sermon at the church last week. Crockett said he had enjoyed his 11 years of service at the Monett church and the opportunity to be involved in many community activities. Cassville Rodeo slated this weekend (06/16/11)
The Cassville Rotary Club's 74th annual rodeo will be held at the Bill Hailey Arena at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18. For 15 years, Leon Faucett has hosted an annual Junior Golf Clinic at Sycamore Valley Driving range in Mt. Veronon. This week 89 area youth attended the free clinic to learn the basics of putting, chipping and driving a golf ball. "Kids are the future of golf," said the 85-year-old PGA Pro Faucett.
