BarCo E911 faces bankruptcy (06/02/11)
Faced with having to pay the City of Monett $600,000 while operating in a recession, the Barry County E-911 Board announced last week that it could declare bankruptcy if the board's current financial position does not change. Sales tax income jumps again in May (06/02/11)
Sales tax revenue for the bi-county area jumped into the double digit range for the second consecutive month in May. No comparable revenue jump has been seen since the summer of 2008, before the economic downturn. Monett's two sales taxes for the general fund generated $130,967.78 in May, up $16,773.65 from last May. The two-month fiscal year total was up by 13 percent from a year ago, the best showing since the start of 2004. The city's other two sales taxes showed similar increases...
