Co-teachers at St. Mary's are honored (03/10/11)
A pair of educators who share kindergarten teaching duties at St. Mary's Catholic School in Pierce City have been honored as January Teachers of the Month. Janene Kipers and Leigh Ann McRoberts each received a special plaque as well as a $250 check from EFCO, a Pella Company, which will be used to benefit classroom activities. Ambulance district pays off debt early (03/10/11)
The Barry-Lawrence Ambulance Board voted at its February meeting to pay off its building 10 years early. The $180,000 expenditure put property tax revenue from the two counties to use and eliminated the building payment due in 2011. According to Office Manager Jeaneittia Pierce, board members decided not to purchase any new vehicles this year, a cost savings of approximately $120,000. Judy Jane Stoll, age 63, of Aurora, died on Tuesday, March 8. The Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora has conducted all of the local arrangements. Her family will hold a celebration of Judy's life, privately on her birthday on April 8.
