Public service planned for slain soldier (03/09/11)
Funeral services for U.S. Army Specialist Christopher Stark, killed in action in Afghanistan on Feb. 28, will be held this week in Monett. Stark, a 2007 graduate of Monett High School, was flown to the military base in Dover, Del., on March 4. The body will be brought to Monett, where visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Buchanan Funeral Home...
Artists invited to Draw Pierce City (03/09/11)
Artists young and old are invited to enter the annual Draw Pierce City contest, hosted by the Pierce City Arts Council. The contest is open to all students living within the Pierce City School District boundaries, public, private or home-schooled. B-L Library Board reviews facility needs and funding (03/09/11)
The Barry-Lawrence Library Board reviewed a variety of needs at the various branches during its February meeting. Snow caused all branches to be closed on Feb. 1 and 2. Broadway Nights returns on Friday featuring 17 southwest Missouri authors with their works. At least two authors will be stationed at each of the downtown stores that are staying open late.
