PC council addresses police chief's vacation (02/26/11)
approved a new vacation schedule for city employees at their February meeting, which raised some concerns about police coverage while Police Chief Mike Abramovitz or the two patrol officers are gone. Abramovitz has accrued three weeks of vacation that must be used before July of this year. He has an additional four weeks to use between July and the beginning of the next fiscal year on April 1, 2012...
St. Lawrence teacher is tops (02/26/11)
Jay Bierkortte, a teacher at St. Lawrence Catholic School in Monett, has been named the Distinguished Teacher of the Year by the Springfield-Cape Girardeau Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church for the western half. The Roman Catholic Church began honoring its teachers on the diocese level in the 2009-10 school year.
