Municipal court caseload is at record levels (01/31/11)
The Monett Municipal Court recorded possibly its busiest year on record during 2010. Police officers have been especially active in handling traffic cases. The total number of cases entered in the court system, primarily based on the number of tickets issued by police officers, totaled 2,082 in 2010. Plans are now developing for Monett's first Strawberry Fest (01/31/11)
Committees are taking shape for the first Strawberry Festival in Monett. Organizers met last week to advance plans for the event, which is scheduled for June 3 and 4. Shaun Bennett, one of the festival organizers, said work for the event has been broken down so it can be handled by 22 teams. ...

Cemetery vandal is arrested (01/31/11)
One man has been arrested and authorities are still seeking the location of another in connection with the Halloween night vandalism of Lee Cemetery in Verona. Officers with the Mt. Vernon Police Department arrested Terry Parker, 18, of Mt. Vernon, on Wednesday. Parker was charged with institutional vandalism for allegedly taking part in the re-arranging, destruction and overturning of approximately 75 headstones at the cemetery last October. Chamber makes annual meeting plans (01/31/11)
The 2011 annual meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, March 3. Doug Childress, chairman for the event, will announce the theme and entertainment next week. Tickets will go on sale in mid-February.
