City partners with Missouri Career Center (12/22/10)
The City of Monett is considering a major renovation of the Monett Community Center at County Road and Maple in conjunction with a lease deal to house the Missouri Career Center. Preparations are nearly complete for Linn Thornton's 26th annual Community Christmas Dinner on Saturday at the American Legion Home at 715 E. Broadway in Monett. Thornton has been packing and distributing toys for needy families all week as he made arrangements for the dinner. The Monett Area Community Foundation (MACF) has launched a year-end campaign to raise additional funds for the local organization, which awards grants to many worthy community groups and efforts throughout the year. Traditionally, the end of the year is a time when people often make charitable donations, and as 2010 comes to a close, MACF officials are hoping local citizens will choose to make a financial gift to support the foundation...
